Hello, everyone, and welcome to a new episode of "New NoiZe." I'm your host, Atlas Castle, and I'm thrilled to have you here with me today on Massive Radio. As always, we're about to embark on a musical journey through some of my all-time favorite albums, taking you from the very beginning to the final note.

In today's episode, I've got a real gem in store for you – a dub techno masterpiece by the Swedish artist known as re:fraction.

This project is the brainchild of Gustav Sandstedt, built upon hardware sessions and live recordings, all woven together through improvised arrangements. Now, let's delve into the origins of re:fraction.

This sonic venture emerged in 2021 after Gustav's decade-long foray into producing ambient drone music under the alias Fähund, combined with a profound twenty-year fascination with the dub techno genre. It was a transformative moment that led him to transition to a hardware-based workflow.

Thus, in the summer of 2021, the re:fraction alias was born, becoming the home for all his daring dub techno experiments. Today, we're immersing ourselves in the second chapter of re:fraction's musical odyssey, aptly titled "Parallel Directions."

This album is a compilation of eight meticulously crafted sessions, each representing a unique sonic experience. It's Gustav's personal companion on a late-night drive, a laid-back voyage that invites introspection, reflecting on life's beauty and the adventures that await.

Beyond being a musical journey, "Parallel Directions" signifies Gustav's evolution as an artist, a mark on his roadmap of sound exploration. It's a collection of samples and FM synthesis, made possible by the incredible technology we humans have collectively developed through knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

Gustav's work is a tribute to the countless artists who paved the way before him, and he approaches it with profound respect and his own unique perspective. We're privileged to witness this journey.

Let's dive headfirst into 'Parallel Directions' by re:fraction right here on Massive Radio.

I’ll see you over here next week for a new album selection!
