What inspired the collaboration between Frank Lemon and Skyfade on “Rising Tide,” and how did the creative process unfold?
What started with Aperol Spritz, Sushi and coffee on a hot summer day, ended in one of our favorite collaborative tunes we made so far. We met before one of Franky's gigs with the intention of exploring new musical grounds, while preserving our signature sound. The track evolved naturally, with the discovery of a Maasai tribe sample setting the worldly tone. As the tune progressed, we added an atmospheric orchestral intro and a dramatic outro, which became our favorite part.
Both of you have distinct styles; how did you merge your individual sounds to create a cohesive track, and what were some challenges you faced in this process?
Despite our unique styles, when we collaborate, we merge our sounds seamlessly. We approach songwriting as a unified entity, allowing the music to dictate its direction. The only challenge we faced was to always have enough coffee. 3. “Rising Tide” is described as having uplifting melodies and infectious energy. Can you share the story behind the track’s evolution and what emotions you aimed to evoke through its sound? “Rising Tide" is a blend of uplifting melodies and powerful breakbeats, aiming to create a track that's both energy driven as well as emotionally resonant. We wanted to capture a sense of adventure, like embarking on a journey and exploring different cultures. The track's evolution was driven by a desire to unite dynamic energy with beautiful melodies, inviting listeners to experience excitement and curiosity through its sounds.
How does “Rising Tide” reflect your growth and evolution as artists, both individually and collectively?
We both tried to let go of our expectations, what a track “should” sound like and let the music guide us. Sometimes you really get in your own way by focusing too much on current trends or goals you’re trying to achieve. With “Rising Tide” we could let loose and let the music basically write itself and the result is a clear and unconstrained piece of music. 5. What can listeners expect from the future collaborations between Frank Lemon and Skyfade, and do you have any upcoming projects or releases you can tease us about? Whilst answering this question we’re scrolling through our collaborations Folder… Let's say it won't be our last collaboration. Between solo shows and releases the next Summer-tune-collab is already in the pipeline and a special Set later this year keeps us on our toes. Both of which will be announced soon.
